Concrete for Christmas......

......well it's not exactly what I was wishing for!
This was the last piece of major work that we needed to do, and I must admit it feels good to get it finished before the end of the year. It's certainly been an epic year.

The dirty brown marks next to the paw prints are from a wallaby that jumped over the concrete during the night. Luckily the concrete had dried enough so it didn't leave any impression-just the dirt. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the paw prints!

 Who me????
Our own version of tribal art. We decided that it was only fitting to include the paw prints of Muffin & Cookie. After all they have been with us every step of the way.

Slow but necessay progress

Lots of work has taken place since I last posted an update but unfortunately much of it was not “picture worthy progress”. If you’ve seen one plumbing pipe, then you’ve seen them all! That said, it was exciting to finally connect the down pipes on the house to the water tank.   With so much rain over the last few months the water running off the roof had turned the surrounding area into a slushy mess. Once the down pipe were connected it didn’t take long for the water tank to fill.

Rain Rain Go Away

Progress has been slow over the last few weeks, but we are back on the job now.  Trent & Phil made great progress despite the rain this weekend.

Recently we took a little break from the farm and went to Mudgee for the weekend with our friends Rodney & Michele. It was so nice to get away from the city (yes I know- our farm is away from the city-but that’s different!)

I thought we’d have a hard time getting the boys to go away until Michele mentioned that it was also the Mudgee Field Day weekend. Michele you genius!! It was a perfect compromise. One day looking at farm machinery and “essential farming equipment”, the next wine tasting and site seeing!

I can highly recommend Mudgee for a weekend away. They have some great cafes, restaurants and pubs.
Mudgee is well known as a wine making region so we took the opportunity to do some wine tasting while we were there. It would have been just been rude not to!

Busy Busy Busy

This weekend was a very productive one. Three concrete pads for the water tanks, two concrete footings for the stone walls and one trench for water & waste. Plus another layer of concrete polishing on the house site. I need to do two more before the frames go up.....Something to look forward to for next weekend.

Footing for the stone walls

Slightly scary look

Small machine for such a large area.
